About the Excursion:
Set off on an engaging journey through Kazakhstan's capital — a city where history and modernity harmoniously intertwine. The tour begins at the monument to Kenesary Khan, the last Kazakh khan and grandson of Abylai Khan, who led the national liberation movement. This monument is a symbol of independence and remembrance of the past.
What to Expect
The starting point of the tour is the monument to Kenesary Khan — the last Kazakh khan, grandson of Abylai Khan, who led the national liberation movement of the Kazakhs, striving to restore khanate rule abolished after annexation by the Russian Empire.
Next you will walk along the Ishim river embankment, which divides the city into right and left banks. Here you can get close to the origins of the city's history. Walking along the embankment you will reach the city park. It is located on the bank of the Esil (Ishim) River in the very center of the capital. The park houses a summer amphitheater — an open concert venue where various events take place (concerts, championships, contests and other entertainments). You will also walk across the new pedestrian bridge “Atyrau”. It resembles a giant miracle-fish whose scales shimmer in the sun.
After the walk you will visit the former main square in front of the akimat. Previously, the regional administration of Tselinograd was housed in the akimat building. The windows of the First Presidential Residence of the Republic of Kazakhstan also faced this square. You will look into the square's park, where 186 historical photographs of the First President of Kazakhstan are displayed outdoors. Some of them are unique, as they have never been exhibited elsewhere.
