Excursion to the “Gold” Halls

What to Expect

The National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan invites you to an excursion through two unique exhibition spaces — the “Gold” halls, featuring outstanding archaeological collections from the Bronze Age to the Early Middle Ages.

The excursion route begins in the “Gold Hall No. 1”, which presents authentic artefacts from the ancient metallurgical centres of Central, Eastern and Northern Kazakhstan: gold jewellery, weapons, ceramics, household items and ritual complexes. A special place is given to the world-famous “Golden Man” from the Issyk burial mound — one of the main symbols of Kazakhstan’s historical and cultural heritage.

The excursion continues in the “Gold Hall No. 2”, dedicated to the flourishing of Saka-Sarmatian artistic heritage and the culture of nomadic civilizations of Eurasia. The exhibition features finds from Berel, Shilikty, Eleke Sazy, Araltobe, Urzhar, Taksai and other archaeological sites, examples of the animal style art, reconstructions of burial complexes and an ancient metallurgical workshop.

Duration: 1 hour (a full visit to all museum halls takes from 2 to 4 hours)

Opening hours: Tuesday–Sunday, 09:30–18:00 (ticket office until 17:00, last admission at 17:00). Technical day — Monday, sanitary day — the last Tuesday of each month.
